John Varvatos: Soho Collection

John Varvatos is an internationally renowned fashion designer, known for producing menswear, accessories and fragrance under his own brand name. The self-taught designer maintains a constant finger on the pulse of current fashions, which also earned him a spot as one of the creatives behind luxury brand REM Eyewear. Since 2000, John Varvatos has been designing prescription frames and sunglasses for REM. His latest branded offering, the Soho Collection, features pantoscopic and aviator frames in three unique colorways. The frame designs include embossed temple inlays and bolt hinges with the signature John Varvatos touch: A perfect blend of casual Rock ’n’ Roll and masculine cool, for instance in the guitar-shaped hinges in select models. So far, John’s eyewear designs have won followers including KISS, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Perry Farrell, ZZ Top, The Roots, Velvet Revolver and Lenny Kravitz. And starting this September, no other than Ringo Starr of The Beatles fame will be endorsing eyewear and fashion by John Varvatos. Cool!

All NatureAll Nature

All Nature

Photographers simply love Cape Town. Not only because of the quality of light, but also the natural, rough atmosphere. Our team was looking forward to taking the trip to the sunny edge of the African continent in January. Our mission was to shoot the latest collection of glasses from Hoffmann Natural Eyewear. And since their glasses are exclusively made from natural resources, we set out to find some “natural” locations for our photo shoots. We ended up with some pretty dramatic backdrops in the woods beneath Table Mountain, the sand dunes of Table View and a dried-up lake in Worcester. And we didn’t mind the bad weather. It’s all part of nature, after all… Hoffmann Natural Eyewear »Urban 12 H 10« Photo: Stefan Kapfer – Hair & Make Up: Nicola Weidemann – Model: Rahel @ Dress : Strehlow –

Snow-White & Rose-Red

One of the major themes in the fairy tale of Snow-White and Rose-Red is the flawless beauty of the two sisters. While Snow-White is quiet and shy, Rose-Red is outgoing and cheerful – and both are described in the Brothers Grimm’s tale as the superlative idea of beauty incarnate. The classic story inspired us to interpret perfect beauty in a contemporary context. Like a fairy tale, too good to be true – but truly beautiful. MYKITA & Mark Borthwick Art Edition Book

For the sixth MYKITA campaign in collaboration with artist and photographer Mark Borthwick, friends, family and models gathered on Lanzarote, an island of volcanic origin surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. All photographs were captured with Borthwicks trusted twentyfive-year old analogue Leica camera. The prism-like colour effects created by overexposure of the film are distinctive of Borthwick’s warm, spontaneous style. MYKITA is publishing these wondrous pictures as an art edition photo book set, featuring the book plus a limited art edition print signed and numbered by the artist. There are three images to choose from, and 33 signed prints of each image are available, making it a total of 99 art editions.

Oakley: Enduro

Fresh from the mind of world-class snowboarder Shaun White comes the new Oakley Enduro, a carved-line frame with the influence of ’60s rock & roll. You might know that this isn’t Shaun’s first time at the co-lab rodeo and in our opinion, this is his most versatile frame to date. More sophisticated than a wayfarer but never delicate, this shade refuses to be defined and is made for people with that same M.O.

Kaviar Gauche x Brendel

Kaviar Gauche x Brendel

Award-winning designers Kaviar Gauche from Berlin have built a reputation for their trademark style: Combining fragile materials with tough details. Their dresses are highly coveted designer items, especially the wedding gowns; lofty satin dresses adorned with rough metal belts, laser-cut patterns and bold metal chains. The resulting look is a blend of opposites, equally frail and feminine and at the same time strong and impressive. Now the two designers behind Kaviar Gauche are applying their concept to eyewear in a collabo with of-the-moment label Brendel. The glasses are crafted from high-quality polymers in tender Kaviar Gauche colorways such as light rosewood and olive, combined with metal accents like copper, gold and rosé gold. Our Collab of the Issue, sweet as wedding cake. We want more!

G-Star Raw G-Star Raw

G-Star Raw

In the late 1990s, only one certain brand of jeans would be allowed into my closet. Or to be more precise, only one single style from that brand – but in all imaginable kinds of colors and washes: the G-Star Elwood model. At the time, this entirely new cut of jeans offered the perfect blend of cool style and comfort in a way people had never seen before. I single-handedly donated all my other jeans to charity – and I wasn’t the only one. As a quick stroll down the street revealed: The Elwood had become an ubiquitous fashion staple! Starting at the end of this year, G-Star will broaden its offering beyond fashionable garments with a series of prescription glasses and shades for men and women. Make no mistake: This step has been a long time in the making. After all, the denim pioneers took a sweet 25 years before releasing eyewear considered worthy of bearing the iconic G-Star logo. The G-Star design ethic, “Just the Product” also applies in the brand’s approach to eyewear: Many features of the new eyewear collection are clearly based on the fashion heritage of the storied denim label, including references to iconic G-Star […]
